DESCRIPTION:The Jacksonville GardenClub’s annual Spring Sale will be held in downtown Jacksonville on Saturday\,May 13\, 10am-3pm\, in the alcove next to the Post Office.Club members create beautiful arrangements from fresh-cut spring flowers in arange of prices—for Mother’s Day or a nice gift to yourself or a friend. Pottedplants\, spring starts\, lovely cards and crafts will also be available forpurchase. And finally back again this year after the Covid hiatus\, are homemadebaked goods and treats made by Club members! \nFunds raised go to support local students’ scholarshipsat the Oregon Stewardship and Rogue Community College. In addition\, the Club’sfunds and its members’ volunteer energies support local beautification projectsat the Peter Britt Garden\, Scheffel-Thurston Park\, the Jacksonville CommunityCenter and Doc Griffin Park. Jacksonville residents are digging up the streets looking for leftover gold.  Franklin Roosevelt ispromising a “New Deal.”  And Ben andCarrie Beekman\, the children of Jacksonville’s wealthiest and most prominentpioneer family\, are closing up their 1870s family home\, going through closetsand cupboards\, and commenting on 1932 current affairs and life in the late1800s.  The Beekmans will be “receivingguests” at 10:30am\, 11:30am\, 1pm\, and 2pm at their family home at 470 E.California Street in Jacksonville\, OR. During a 1-hour “social call\,” visitors will be interacting with Carrie\,Ben\, family members\, and friends.  Tour admission is $10\, and guestscan plan their visit at https://historicjacksonville.org/1932-living-history/.
