When our town is full of bargain hunters and treasure seekers\, parking becomes an issue in some areas. Here are some basic guidelines to follow during the busy weekend. The Jacksonville Municipal Code and the Oregon Revised Statutes support these guidelines. \n\nStopping your vehicle in the middle of the road is never allowed.\nThe yellow\, red\,and green markings on the roadway and the curbs indicate that parking is prohibited or limited. Be aware of your surroundings.\nIt is only allowed to park within 20 feet of an intersection\, whether the curb or ground is painted\, if a designated parking space is indicated.\nPublic safety vehicles must be able to travel safely down all streets in case of an emergency.\nDo not park with any portion of your vehicle extending into the roadway. \nIf the road is painted with no parking and/or a yellow\, red\, or green line\, pulling into the area inside that line\, no matter how far off the street the vehicle is\, is still considered illegal parking.\nTimed parking will be enforced.\nHandicapped parking will be enforced.\nThere is no parking on North Fifth St/Hwy 238 \nCalifornia/Hwy 238is a State Highway and is subject to tickets associated with the Oregon State Police and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. \nRead the signs at the beginning and end of each block to see if parking is limited in that area. \n\nThe Citywide Yard Sale weekend is a busy one. Illegal parking makes it more dangerous for all people involved. The police will be ticketing illegally parked vehicles. Please be sure you follow the law.  \n \n

DESCRIPTION:By Anne Brooke \nWHENMY 10 YEARS with Art Presence Art Center ended\, it enabled me to return to myStudio/Gallery to provide classes in Life Drawing\, Beginning Drawing\,Watercolor\, Calligraphy and Colored Pencil—just doing what I have loved doingfor forty years. \nThree years ago\, I approached Britt Festivals’ Abby McKeeabout providing art during Britt Classical Concerts; after all the venue wascalled Britt Festival of Music and Art. At the time\, the only art at the festivalwas the annual commissioned festival poster\, so Abby agreed and “Art at theBritt” was born. Six fine artists: Nancy and Kim Sterling\, Lauren Card\, DesmondSerratore\, Susan Burnes and Alx Fox joined me in exhibiting on the grounds. Ithas been wonderfully successful with lots of positive support. \nThe McCully House Inn is also providing us with a venueto exhibit our work for two days in September at an event called\, “Artists inthe Garden.” This willcoincide with the “Jacksonville Jubilee” event put on by theJacksonville Chamber of Commerce.  \nPlease join me onSeptember 12 and 13\, from 1-7pm\, in their beautiful garden behind the inn—I look forward to meeting and sharing a mutualappreciation for art in this incredible town.

SUMMARY:Jacksonville Haunted History Tours
DESCRIPTION:Do you enjoy a “spirited” evening?Then don’t miss out on our Jacksonville  \nHaunted History Tours! \nTours at 7pm\, 7:15pm and 7:30pm  \nLearn about the ghosts that still linger in Jacksonville’s historic district while learning a little history about the buildings\, their occupants\, and life in a gold rush town when you join Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. on a guided Haunted History walking tour. Hear about revengeful women\, philandering husbands\, playful children\, “cherished possessions\,” arson for profit\, an art critic\, a Chinese miner seeking to have his bones returned to his native soil\, and other ghosts that still dwell in our town’s historic buildings.  \nWe’re offering two nights of tours in both September and October plus two different tours each night! All tours leave from the Jacksonville Visitors Center at the corner of North Oregon and C streets and last about 1 hour. The Courthouse route features brothels\, epidemics\, and hangings.  The Britt Hill tour highlights murder\, arson\, saloons\, and Oregon’s oldest Chinatown.  And both tours have lots of haunted houses!   \nAll tours leave from the Jacksonville Visitors Center at the corner of North Oregon and C streets and last about 1 hour. The Jacksonville Municipal Code and the Oregon Revised Statutes support these guidelines. \n\nStopping your vehicle in the middle of the road is never allowed.\nThe yellow\, red\,and green markings on the roadway and the curbs indicate that parking is prohibited or limited. Be aware of your surroundings.\nIt is only allowed to park within 20 feet of an intersection\, whether the curb or ground is painted\, if a designated parking space is indicated.\nPublic safety vehicles must be able to travel safely down all streets in case of an emergency.\nDo not park with any portion of your vehicle extending into the roadway. \nIf the road is painted with no parking and/or a yellow\, red\, or green line\, pulling into the area inside that line\, no matter how far off the street the vehicle is\, is still considered illegal parking.\nTimed parking will be enforced.\nHandicapped parking will be enforced.\nThere is no parking on North Fifth St/Hwy 238 \nCalifornia/Hwy 238is a State Highway and is subject to tickets associated with the Oregon State Police and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. \nRead the signs at the beginning and end of each block to see if parking is limited in that area. \n\nThe Citywide Yard Sale weekend is a busy one.
