SUMMARY:Rogue Valley Farm to School’s Annual Benefit Concert: "Turnip the Beet '26!"
DESCRIPTION:Rogue Valley Farm to School’s annual benefit concert\, “Turnip the Beet\,” is right around the corner! Join us at Fry Family Farm on June 14th\, 2026\, from 4pm to 8pm for a family-friendly evening of live music\, local food\, and free kids’ activities. This year\, we are welcoming the bands Los Mapaches and Simple Dreams to the stage! \nCome dance\, nosh on local food\, and celebrate the start of summer with us!  \nWhat to Know Before You Go: \n\n\nTiered ticket pricing is available for the first time this year — $15 tickets are limited\, so grab them while you can! \n\n\nKids 18 and under are free with a ticketed adult \n\n\nTickets are available at the gate for $30 until we reach capacity \n\n\nFree parking on site \n\n\nBring sun protection\, chairs\, and blankets \n\n\nPlease leave pets at home \n\n\nNo outside food or beverages permitted \n\n\n \n \nTurnip the Beet has always been a celebration\, but this year it carries extra meaning. One of our partner districts lost a key source of funding\, and the ripple effect reaches every student we serve\, leaving the hands-on farm and food education that has shaped how a generation of Southern Oregon kids thinks about food at risk. This year\, your ticket is more than an unforgettable evening of cumbia\, dancing\, and good food under the summer sky. It’s a direct investment in keeping this work alive. One hundred percent of proceeds go directly to Rogue Valley Farm to School’s Digging Deeper School Partnership\, and right now every dollar matters. \nDigging Deeper serves more than 5\,200 students\, and the stakes of losing it go far beyond the classroom. For many kids\, especially those who struggle in traditional learning environments\, the garden is where something *clicks*. Our educators build real\, lasting relationships with students who need them most. In districts where 20 to 25 percent of elementary-aged students are chronically absent\, having a trusted adult and a place they genuinely want to be can change the trajectory of a child’s future. Add to that the nutrition education that sets kids up for improved long-term health and the sense of community and wonder that comes from learning outside four walls\, and you begin to understand what is really at stake. \nThis partnership also matters deeply to the fabric of our local food system. By connecting school cafeterias across Jackson and Josephine Counties with more than 23 local farmers and ranchers\, it is helping build a steady\, reliable market that local food producers can count on. That is good for kids\, good for farmers\, and good for a community that is stronger when its food comes from close to home. \nTurnip the Beet is one of the most fun ways to be part of this community and support the work we do together. But if you can’t make it or want to do even more\, there are other ways to get involved: \n\n\nMake a direct donation to Rogue Valley Farm to School \n\n\nSponsor Turnip the Beet or a school garden in your community \n\n\nRegister for our online auction — you don’t need to attend the event to bid (starts in May!) \n\n\nTalk to your school’s PTO about inviting our educators to bring students on a farm field trip or to host a Tastebuds Trekkers event at your school \n\n\nSpread the word by sharing this page with someone who cares about kids\, food\, and this community \n\n\nHowever you choose to show up\, know that it matters more than you might realize. This work has flourished for two decades because of people like you\, and we are deeply grateful to have this community in our corner  \n \n \nShare \n Facebook X LinkedIn WhatsApp Email

SUMMARY:Britt to Honor Founder John Trudeau with Stage Dedication and Community Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Jacksonville\, OR – Monday\, April 27\, 2026: This summer\, Britt will host a special community event\, Honoring Britt’s Founder: A Dedication and Picnic Celebration\, recognizing the life and legacy of founder and longtime music director John Trudeau\, whose vision helped establish Britt as a cultural cornerstone of Southern Oregon. \nThe celebratory evening will take place on Tuesday\, June 23 at 5:30 PM the Britt hill\, where community members\, members of the Trudeau family\, Britt alumni\, and friends will gather to reflect on the lasting impact of John Trudeau and the important role he and his wife\, Elizabeth “Betty” Trudeau\, played in shaping the organization. \nThrough shared stories and time together on the grounds\, guests will learn more about the Trudeau family’s legacy; from the Festival’s earliest days\, to the creation of the Britt Pavilion\, the growth of education programs\, and the development of the internationally respected Britt Festival Orchestra. The evening will conclude with a picnic supper under the trees\, and attendees are invited to remain on site for the Orchestra’s evening rehearsal at 8 PM. \nAs part of the celebration\, the Britt Pavilion Stage will be formally dedicated as the S. John and Elizabeth Trudeau Stage\, marking a meaningful milestone in Britt’s history. The dedication will also be recognized publicly during the Britt Festival Orchestra concert on June 27. \n“Britt Festival is woven into the very fabric of the Trudeau family’s life and legacy. We are deeply touched that this commemoration will celebrate our father John Trudeau\, its founder and 25-year music director\, and our mother Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Trudeau\, who shared his devotion to Britt and worked tirelessly at his side in service to music and community. Dedicating the Britt Pavilion Stage to honor them means the world to us.” said John and Elizabeth Trudeau’s children\, George Trudeau\, Jeannette Coil\, Stephanie Hulcher\, and Jennifer Graylands. \n“John and Betty Trudeau helped build the foundation of what Britt is today\,” said Abby McKee\, President & CEO of Britt Music & Arts Festival. “Their dedication to artistic excellence\, education\, and community connection continues to shape our mission. It is a privilege to honor their legacy in a lasting and visible way.” \nTickets for the June 23 event and the full Britt Festival Orchestra season are available through Britt’s box office and website at britt.org.
