Beekman Bank “Behind the Counter” Tours

BeekmanBank “Behind the Counter” Tours –   Between 11am and 3pm on every weekend from May28th through September 4th, a costumed docent invites you to step “Behind theCounter” of the 1863 Beekman Bank.  Begunin 1856 as a gold dust office, it’s the oldest financial institution betweenSan Francisco and Portland.  Preserved asa museum since 1915, it saw over $40 million in gold cross its counter duringJacksonville’s heyday in the late 1800s—worth over $1 billion today!  It’s suggested you allow 30 minutes to hearthe stories of 19^th Century banking practices, gold shipping, andhandshake deals.  Tours are free—but donationsare strongly encouraged!  Information at https://www.historicjacksonville.org/behind-the-counter-tours/
